Synopsis:
The global business landscape is undergoing dramatic transformation, shaped by intensifying US–China rivalry, rising economic nationalism and populist pressures on both sides of the Atlantic. From tariffs and export controls to calls for strategic decoupling, companies around the world are being forced to rethink their presence, exposure and long-term plans in China.
As China promotes self-reliance and counters with a charm offensive towards Europe and as the United States gears up for more protectionist trade policy, key questions emerge: How has the trade war impacted China’s economic outlook and operating environment? Are there signs of recession in China—or in the United States—and how should businesses respond? Can China credibly replace the United States as a primary trade and investment partner, especially for firms seeking growth beyond the West? Which regions are emerging as viable alternatives for global supply chains and market expansion?
In this talk and fireside chat, the speaker will unpack the structural shifts at play and offer strategic reflections for multinational businesses, investors and students tracking the future of global trade.
