Course Synopsis

Over the past few decades, China has evolved from a major manufacturing hub into the world’s second-largest economy. This transformation has been driven by substantial investments in infrastructure, the attraction of foreign direct investment, and policies aimed at fostering a dynamic business environment. These efforts have contributed to significant progress in industrial upgrading and innovation. In sectors such as renewable energy and artificial intelligence, China has made notable advances, moving steadily toward higher value-added production and more sophisticated industrial capabilities.

At the same time, the global landscape is undergoing rapid change. Heightened geopolitical and economic uncertainties, coupled with accelerated technological shifts, require both policymakers and enterprises to better understand the underlying drivers and adapt their strategies accordingly. While these trends pose challenges, they also present important opportunities for engagement and growth.

This course is designed in response to these evolving dynamics.

It will explore China’s international economic engagement and its relations with key global partners, including the United States, the European Union, Japan, Korea, and India. Participants will examine developments in regional frameworks such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with particular attention to Southeast Asia and emerging markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Real-world case studies and market analysis will provide participants with practical tools to navigate uncertainty and identify new opportunities in a rapidly shifting global environment.

By broadening international perspectives, the course will enable participants to:

  • Understand global trade and investment trends and assess their implications for China and the broader region
  • Examine China’s role through the lens of its international partners
  • Gain insights into regional cooperation mechanisms and emerging market developments
  • Strengthen strategic thinking and decision-making across borders in an increasingly complex global context
