Chu Ngoc Huyen is a PhD candidate at the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. She holds a Master’s degree in Building Architecture from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and previously taught for five years as a junior lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. Her research examines how citizens navigate structural constraints through adaptive practices that reshape urban development from below.
She has studied low-income migrant youth in Hanoi and the spatial politics of creative hubs. Currently, she investigates the ambiguity of people-led affordable housing in Hanoi, emphasizing its civic resilience potential in dense Southeast Asian cities.
